During the day 03 of 2nd Test Inning of Cricket Match which was playing in Dubai (UAE) to chase the victory between Pakistan and South Africa, Captain Graeme Smith of South African Cricket Team was called over by the umpires Ian Gould and Rod Tucker at the end of the 30th over and informed of the decision to enforce the five-run penalty over ball tampering.

An ICC spokesperson also confirmed that the said umpires replaced the ball and penalized the South Africa team five penalty runs for ball tampering. Under the ICC regulation the umpires are obligated to report the incident to match referee. However no any player of South African Cricket Team was charged but TV replays appeared to show a player rubbing the ball against the zipper on his whites.
