Pakistan clean sweeps T20 series against West Indies

In their second and final T20 match against WI, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat. The decision proved to be correct as the opener Ahmed Shehzad’s 44 (in 46 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes) gave Pakistan a solid start which was later solidified by 46 runs (in 36 balls with 3 fours and 1 six) of Umar Akmal. No other batsman provided significant contribution restricting Pakistan to 135/7 at the end of their innings. WI bowling attack was led by Narine who got 3 wickets for 26 runs. Badree was economical and lethal with figures of 2 wickets for 16 runs.

WI batting struggled right from the start as their first four batsman were out after adding less than 5 runs each. Bravo with 35 (in 44 balls with 2 fours and 1 six), Narine 28 runs (in 16 balls with 3 fours and 1 six) and Pollard 23 runs (in 10 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes) were the only batsman that put up a fight. Pakistan’s bowling was on the mark and productive right from the start. Sohail Tanvir led the charge with figures of 2 wickets for 20 and Saeed Ajmal 2 wickets for 21. Mohammad Hafeez kept the WI guessing and only conceded 9 runs in 4 over and 1 wicket. WI could only muster 129 runs for 9 wickets giving Pakistan an 11 runs win and the series.

Umar Akmal was awarded player of the match award. The debutant Zulfiqar Babar was man of the series.
