Pakistan beat WI in 1st T20 by 2 wickets

Pakistan defeated the re-energized West Indies in their first T20 match by 2 wickets. WI won the toss and elected to bat. Their openers failed to generate the batting momentum for their team. It was the middle order that generated most of the runs lead by Pollard who scored 49 runs, followed by Sammy 30, Samuels and Bravo both scored 25. At the end of their innings WI gave Pakistan a target of 153 to win the match. From Pakistan bowling debutant Zulfiqar Babar shone with 3 wickets for 23 runs. Muhammad Hafeez got 2 wickets for 4 runs.

Pakistan innings had a shaky start as openers once again succumb early to WI bowlers. The innings was given some stability by its newest entry to the side Umar Amin who scored 47 runs in 34 balls. Shahid Afridi seems to back in form. He scored 46 runs from 27 balls with four 4s and 2 sixes. Gabriel was the most successful bowler with 3 for 44. Badree, Narine and Samuels also got 1 wicket each. In the end Pakistan proved to be a better side for the day and won the match by 2 wickets.

Shahid Afridi was judged player of the match award.

Pakistan leads the 2 match T20 series 1-0. Second match of the series will be played on July 28th.
