Asif Ali Zardari 9 points proposal is impractical by Abdul Quayyum Khan Kundi

Former member of PTI Chairman Advisory Committee and Central Tarbiyati Council Abdul Quayyum Khan Kundi issued a statement in response to former President Asif Ali Zardari 9 points proposal for establishment of military courts.

President Asif Ali Zardari nine points proposal for military courts can be almost considered as the militarization of civilian courts. And if it is practical to do then why do it for one year as proposed by him. Let’s make it a permanent feature of our system like many other impractical things we have implemented for example NAB. Mr. Zardari seems to be neither here nor there on this issue. It seems both government and opposition are not interested in reforming the judicial system as no one made concrete suggestions about it as a condition for supporting military courts.
We once again suggest that military courts should be installed for only 18 months to two years term so that next government can decide its own course. These courts should only deal with individuals that have engaged in acts of violence against community while their facilitators and abators should be tried by Anti-terrorist courts. A parliamentary committee should also be formed to overhaul Pakistan Penal Code and Pakistan Code of Civil Procedures.
