Bad News for WhatsApp Users

Silicon Valley: You may need to upgrade your mobile set or purchase a new one as the world’s most popular messaging service, WhatsApp, shall no longer be available after December 30.

The authorities of WhatsApp are going to cut the facility for the billions of smartphones users out-of-date systems by the end of this year.

It means that the owners of old smart phones including iPhone 3GS running Andriod 2.1, Amdroid 2.2 and Windows Phone 7 operating software will not be able to use the facility of the free services of WhatsApp after December 30.

WhatsApp, the seven years old messaging service has been rolling out updates to that feature greater security and mounted functionality. However, these updates aren’t supported by older cellphones that have outdated hardware and operating system.

It is pertinent to mention here that WhatsApp said that it would phase out facility for BlackBerry operating system and BlackBerry 10, Nokia Symbian S60, Nokia S40, Windows Phone 7, Android 2.1 and Android 2.2 and iPhone 3GS by end of 2016.

On a latest blog, the WhatsApp authorities said that if a person uses one of these concerned mobile devices, they suggested upgrading to a newer Android, iPhone, or windows phone before the end of 2016 to continue using WhatsApp.

However, later on the WhatsApp updated its post saying it is extending support for BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, Nokia S40 and Nokia Symbian S60 until June 30, 2017.
