The inaugural flight of Qatar Airways arrived in Chengdu today to add one more destination in China. Qatar is already serving Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Chongqing. The expansion of Qatar operation in China is an indication of growing ties between the two countries.
“Qatar Airways saw an immense potential to operate in Chengdu, which is set to play a role in the next wave of economic development in Western China,” said Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer, Akbar Al Baker.
Chengdu is an important industrial hub of China with presence of over 200 Fortune 500 companies. Qatar will be operating three weekly flights to Chengdu on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays.
