Afghan Finance Minister due in Islamabad on Sunday

Afghan Finance Minister Hazrat Omer Zakhilwal is arriving in Islamabad today to meet with Pakistan’s Finance Minister to discuss economic agenda before the arrival of Afghan President in Islamabad on Monday.

Afghan-Pakistan has a transit trade agreement in place. The visiting Minister will discuss issues related to transit trade as well as further the discussion of Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan power transmission project called CASA1000. Both countries will also explore ways to expand bilateral trade from current level of $2 billion to $5 billion by 2015.

Pakistan is seeking expansion of trade in tourism, communication, engineering, education and railways. Pakistan-China-Afghanistan are also exploring trilateral trade development which can include gateway to Central Asian States for Pakistani & Chinese merchandize as well import of energies from these countries.
