Pak-China held strategic talks

A delegation led by Federal Minister of Planning and Development Ahsan Iqhal held talks with their counter parts in China from National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). The talks focused on economic ties and development of a corridor to exploit the trade opportunities offered by the Eurasian zone.

The visit is significant as Pakistan recently handover the operation of Gwadar deep sea port to China. Industrial zones in the North-West China region can benefit from exporting their merchandize to not only Middle East but Central Asia by using this port.

The shorter distance to Gwadar will save logistics expense on inland transport. Gwadar is close to North-West Chinese region by approximately 1500 kms when compared with distance to the closest Chinese port available to them.
