IMF estimates Pakistan’s population to reach 200 million

Visiting delegation of IMF has shared their estimates with the government officials in a meeting held on Wednesday in Islamabad. According to IMF the next fiscal year spending is 13% of GDP. They also informed the officials that if control measures were not taken Pakistan’s population will cross 200 million by 2020. They also informed the government that by the end of 2014 the unemployment is expected to rise to 10%.

Government of Pakistan is negotiating with IMF to arrange a bailout package of US$5 billion. Member of opposition from PTI, Dr. Shireen Mazari has asked the government not to accept the IMF conditionality. She stressed that Pakistan has to make plans to break the begging bowl which is a disgrace to the nation.
