Qamar Zaman Kaira comments & Imran Khan decision to lead PTI-L (lotas): Abdul Q Kundi

Former member of PTI Chairman Advisory Committee & Central Tarbiyati Council Abdul Quayyum Khan Kundi issued following public statement:

First of all Eid Mubarak to all of you and your families. I also condemn recent terrorist attacks & condole with the families that lost loved ones few days before eid.

In Talat Hussain program politician from PPP, Qamar Zaman Kaira made some interesting comments about departures from PPP to PTI. He said that the departures were definitely hurting PPP in the short term but in the long term, it is an opportunity for the party to develop new cadre. He also suggested that PPP should reform itself to be the party of ideology rather than personalities and baradaris.

I have mentioned repeatedly in last one year that PPP is not targeting 2018 general elections but planning to emerge as a majority party in 2023. Their plan for 2018 seems to be to retain Sind and get some seats in Punjab especially in South of it as well as KP and Balochistan. This will give them the clout to establish themselves as a national party as well as become a spoiler for either a coalition government or acquire the role of leader of the opposition. PPP seems to be certain that next government will be coalition government because of PTI snatching some seats from PML-N in Punjab but not enough to form a government. The biggest burden on them that can derail all their plans is the reputation of Asif Ali Zardari. If he goes in the background and allows Bilawal to take lead then it may help them.

I have advised PTI repeatedly that Pakistan is a changed country now for many reasons including penetration of social media; higher awareness of politics around the world; an international wave of new politics recent example of Marcon winning majority in three months; establishment decision not to snatch politics undemocratically & unconstitutionally; and erosion of status quo. This was an opportunity for PTI to offer new leadership and attract only those electables that have good reputation and record in their constituencies.

But Imran Khan ignored my advice and decided to abandon PTI and lead PTI-L (lotas). I don’t see him emerging as a majority leader through ballot box unless and until some third umpire come to his rescue. Imran Khan reliance on a non-political team of JKT and Asad Umar has added to his own lack of political acumen resulting in political mistakes consequently further eroding his support in voters.

To all of you, my plea is still to make PTI an institution so that we can develop new leaders that this country needs desperately. Recycling of old garbage will result in the old axiom garbage in garbage out.
